Bloss Studio
Elizabeth, a qualified landscape designer and horticulturalist, co-founded Bloss Studio with landscape architect Olaf Isaachsen in 2024, after discovering their shared design vision and complementary skills as colleagues.
As Bloss Studio, they design gardens and outdoor spaces for residential, commercial and civic clients, all rooted in a deep respect for nature and people alike. That’s why the duo takes a flexible, thoughtful approach to each project – from providing planting guides and client-led installation support, to gently steering people away from high-maintenance elements like lawns or pools when they may not be truly needed.
"I see it as our role to occasionally push the brief so we get the best possible result for the client or end user," Olaf says
This thoughtful approach stems from their complementary backgrounds. Olaf is a trained landscape architect with hands-on experience in garden installation and maintenance. Elizabeth, originally trained in fashion design before moving into horticulture and landscape design, brings a depth of plant knowledge and a refined understanding of texture, scale, and materiality.
“She has a very good design eye,” Olaf says. “And I’m a bit more about details and systems.”
"Our combined skills allow us to achieve far more than either of us could on our own," Elizabeth explains.
At Bloss Studio, sustainability isn’t an add-on — it’s inherently woven through every project. From considered use of durable hardscaping and appropriate planting palettes, to opting for reclaimed or site-sourced materials when possible, their projects are conceived to endure.
"Gardens are often approached with short-term thinking," Elizabeth explains. "But they’re not a backdrop to be replaced — they’re living, evolving systems that should be designed with the intention of lasting for generations."
The pair see the studio growing only modestly in the future. “We’d love to bring on a couple more hands and like-minded brains,” Olaf says. “But our goal isn’t to get big. We just want to keep working with good people on meaningful projects.”
Elizabeth smiles, “What we love most is the thought that our spaces are going to be lived in, loved, and provide room for both people and local ecologies to flourish.”
