Genesis Dentistry
It’s not every day you meet a dentist who started out with dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon, dabbled in pharmacy, and then found his calling in teeth.
But for Paul Soryal, dentistry wasn’t just a profession—it was the perfect combination of science, creativity, problem-solving and human connection.
“I always wanted to work in health…I just didn’t know which part exactly,” he smiles. “But I wouldn’t swap dentistry for anything now.”
His North Melbourne practice Genesis Dentists opened in 2023, built—quite literally—from the ground up.
“It used to be a gift shop. It looked like rubble,” Paul says, laughing. “We started from scratch—floor plan design, materials, colour palette, everything.”
And the results? A sleek, calming space with five dental surgeries each named after a city that inspires Paul (from New York to Dubai) and all featuring state-of-the-art tech.
“We’ve got the latest 3D X-ray machine right here in the clinic. If someone needs a dental implant, we can start treatment planning immediately,” Paul explains. “Most practices have to send you off-site for that.”
The practice also uses digital scanning instead of messy impressions and can deliver same-day crowns using in-house milling machines.
It’s not just about speed—it’s about comfort. Paul and his team’s goal is to deliver dentistry differently through blending high-tech tools with a personal touch.
“One of my favourite comments is when a patient gets up from the chair and goes, ‘I didn’t even notice it was happening. I was so calm,’” says Paul. “That’s the kind of feedback we aim for. We want Genesis to be a space where anxious patients feel safe and relaxed.”
What’s next for Paul’s first business venture? “I’d love a Genesis practice somewhere else,” Paul admits. “But right now, I want to get this one right. There’s no rush. Build it properly and the rest will follow.”
