Pioneering Women: Ellen Mulcahy

Ellen Mulcahy, the eldest child of a post-famine Irish immigrant family, and a long-serving State school teacher entered a remarkable period of political activism at Trades Hall, in Parkville and North Melbourne in her retirement.

​​Join Wendy Dick, Australian Industrial Relations Commission Centennial Prize winner and Aileen Sarsfield at this local history talk on pioneering women.

Wendy Dick has had a long career in education. Her doctoral dissertation, 'Ellen Mulcahy: a study of her work and life' was awarded the Australian Industrial Relations Commission Centennial Prize in 2012.

Aileen Sarsfield is a descendant of the Mulcahy family. She practiced as a lawyer in a city legal firm and was later employed as a senior lawyer in successive government and semi-government bodies.​
